Our Strategy

Venture for Africa

With 54 countries in Africa, and the youngest population in the world, Africa is growing fast. By 2055, the continent’s youth population (aged 15-24), is expected to be more than double the 2015 total of 226 million. With this in mind, Entrance prepares startups to integrate their solution in Africa today.

Technology has allowed African countries to accomplish several feats, to include fintech-accelerated banking, on-demand healthcare services, and IOT connected rural households with off-grid electricity solutions. The key source of upside is associated with the significant penetration of mobile connectivity across all income segments.

With an existing need to fill core development gaps in the continent, and a high focus on adoption, we believe that the discomfort in the continent is a signal of good opportunity.

Why we will invest

Investment Focus

We are generalists who do not favor any particular vertical. However, we favor startups who optimize for the long-term good of their customers and community. This includes, but is not limited to fintech, digital health, data-driven energy solutions, transportation, and commerce.

As a small early fund, we lean towards software-driven solutions, and often tend to run away from capital-intensive companies. As operators ourselves, we obsess over the customer, and only invest in founders who do so too.

We appreciate the strength of marketing, but we do not favor solving for marketing campaigns over understanding the customer and solving for their needs.

Meet the Founding Team

We’ve founded and scaled successful companies ourselves, and we’ve learned firsthand that doing meaningful work requires vision, drive, and investors who believe in you every step of the way.
